About this poster

Eight months after a staged photo finish at Le Mans, the Italians came to Florida and staged one of their own: three red prototypes crossing the line side by side, first, second and third, on their American rivals' home ground. Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon won in number 23, three laps clear, with Mike Parkes and Ludovico Scarfiotti second in number 24 and Pedro Rodriguez and Jean Guichet third in number 26. The picture of the three cars in formation became one of the most famous images in endurance racing.

This sheet lets the colour tell the story: three bands in the same racing red, running to the finish line in finishing order, a podium you read in one glance. In the corner a hand-drawn, photorealistic front of the winning red prototype, and along the bottom the race in numbers: 666 laps of the 6.132 km road course, 4,084 km at 170.1 km/h, a 1:55.69 fastest lap, 59 starters and 22 classified.

The image is generated with AI from our researched brief, then reworked and finished by our team in Switzerland. It is an original picture, not a reproduction of any historical photograph.
