About this poster

Where the world championship began. On 13 May 1950, on a former wartime airfield and with King George VI watching, Silverstone ran the first race ever counted toward the drivers' world title. The Italian team's red single-seaters were the class of the field and took the first three places: Giuseppe Farina won in number 2 by 2.6 seconds, ahead of Luigi Fagioli in number 3 and Reg Parnell in number 4. That autumn Farina became the first world champion.

The sheet shows that clean sweep in three bands of the same deep red, running to the finish line in finishing order. A hand-drawn, photorealistic front of the red winner, chrome grille and white number 2, sits in the corner, and the data row records the day: 70 laps of the 4.649 km circuit, a winning time of 2:13:23.6 at 146.4 km/h, a 1:50.6 fastest lap, 21 starters and 11 classified.

The image is generated with AI from our researched brief, then reworked and finished by our team in Switzerland. It is an original picture, not a reproduction of any historical photograph.
