ABOUT THIS POSTER.
The colour that makes the breed look like what it is, a small lynx: a solid black Maine Coon sitting side on with the tail curled round its paws, the coat laid as a deep translucent wash so the engraved line still shows through it, three ink head studies beneath, and a full typeset entry on the ship's cat of New England that became the largest domestic breed in the world. A portrait of the breed, not of one cat.
- Black Maine Coon, seated side view, over three ink head studies: kitten, adult, adult front
- Typeset breed entry: Maine Coon, United States, Since 1895, the ship's cats of New England, Best in Show 1895, CFA 1976, weight and length
- Ivory paper tone, engraved line under hand-coloured wash
The image is generated with AI from our researched brief, then reworked and finished by our team in Switzerland. It is an original picture, not a reproduction of any historical artwork.
