ABOUT THIS POSTER.
2 October 1937, the day the German silver cars first raced in Britain, in an English country park in its first autumn colours, in front of a record crowd. The mid-engined silver number 5 and the front-engined silver number 3 fought tooth and nail for the lead, sliding sideways out of every corner, until number 5 won. Here the leader charges down through the trees while the second car comes out from under the old stone bridge behind it.
- The silver number 5 leading, number 3 chasing out from under the stone bridge
- Autumn trees, the castellated house of the estate and a grandstand hung with Union Jacks
- Precise Art Deco lettering: DONINGTON, Grand Prix Automobile, 2 October 1937; part of our Pre-War Grand Prix series
The image is generated with AI from our researched brief, then reworked and finished by our team in Switzerland. It is an original picture, not a reproduction of any historical artwork.
