ABOUT THIS POSTER.
One in every four animal species on Earth is a beetle. Stag beetles with antler-like jaws, jewelled scarabs, ladybirds and longhorns: no other group of animals comes in so many shapes, colours and quiet extravagances.
Drawn like a plate from a 19th-century naturalist's cabinet, each specimen is hand-coloured in metallic greens, deep blues, reds and bronzes and labelled in fine serif type on an ivory ground. It brings colour and curiosity to a study, a living room or a child's room, and pairs beautifully with the butterfly charts of the series.
