ABOUT THIS POSTER.
The one everyone recognises from the adverts: a silver classic tabby British Shorthair sitting side on with the ringed tail curled round its paws, the bold black bull's-eye pattern laid as a wash over silver and engraved line, green eyes, three ink head studies beneath, and a full typeset entry on the oldest British breed, shown at the first cat show in the world at the Crystal Palace in 1871. A portrait of the breed, not of one cat.
- Silver tabby British Shorthair, seated side view, over three ink head studies: kitten, adult, adult front
- Typeset breed entry: British Shorthair, Britain, Since 1871, Harrison Weir and the Crystal Palace show, GCCF 1910, weight and full size at 3 to 5 years
- Ivory paper tone, engraved line under hand-coloured wash
The image is generated with AI from our researched brief, then reworked and finished by our team in Switzerland. It is an original picture, not a reproduction of any historical artwork.
