BLACK LABRADOR RETRIEVER PLATE.

The original colour of the breed, the one the Earls of Malmesbury imported from the cod boats of St John's: a black Labrador standing side on, drawn in engraved line under a dense dark wash the way plates were coloured by hand, with puppy and adult head studies in ink beneath and a full typeset entry on the water dog that became the most registered dog in the world. A portrait of the breed, not of one dog. Black Labrador Retriever, side view, over three ink head studies: puppy, adult, adult front Typeset breed entry: St John's water dogs, the English estates, Kennel Club 1903, first standard 1916, height and weight Ivory paper tone, engraved line under hand-coloured wash The image is generated with AI from our researched brief, then reworked and finished by our team in Switzerland. It is an original picture, not a reproduction of any historical artwork.
