ABOUT THIS POSTER.
The retriever bred on a Scottish estate to carry a bird unmarked, drawn as a breed book would have shown it: a gold Golden Retriever standing side on, the feathered tail and the kind head in engraved line under a warm translucent wash, with puppy and adult head studies in ink beneath and a full typeset entry from the kennel at Guisachan in 1868 to the dog that carries things about the house. A portrait of the breed, not of one dog.
- Gold Golden Retriever, side view, over three ink head studies: puppy, adult, adult front
- Typeset breed entry: Guisachan 1868, Lord Tweedmouth's yellow retriever, Kennel Club 1913, height and weight
- Ivory paper tone, engraved line under hand-coloured wash
The image is generated with AI from our researched brief, then reworked and finished by our team in Switzerland. It is an original picture, not a reproduction of any historical artwork.
