ABOUT THIS POSTER.
The cocoa tree of tropical Central and South America, named Theobroma, "food of the gods", and the source of every bar of chocolate: its beans are fermented, dried and roasted before they become cocoa. The plate shows ridged pods in red, ochre and green hanging straight from the branch, small flowers sprouting from the bark and a pod cut open on its pale beans, with studies of the flower, stamens, a pod in cross-section and the beans below.
An antique-style plate in the manner of a 19th-century hand-coloured botanical engraving, on a warm ivory ground with the Latin name set beneath. A warm, generous piece for a kitchen, a pantry wall or a baker's corner.
Designed in Switzerland. Printed on premium matte 200 gsm paper, 20×25 to 50×70 cm, unframed or in a black, white, wood or dark wood frame.
